BOSHY Fluorescent Probe Technology Platform
Next-Generation Lipid Droplet Imaging Solution:
Multi-color Compatible / High Aggregation Emission / High S/N
Lipid droplets are central organelles for cellular energy metabolism, and their dynamics are closely related to various metabolic diseases. Addressing issues like ACQ in traditional BODIPY 493/503 probes, OmiChem introduces the "Two-step One-pot" synthesized BOSHY (Boron Salicylhydrazone) series probes. This platform features large Stokes shift, high aggregation-induced emission (AIE-active), and high lipid droplet specificity, providing a complete technical guide from molecular characteristics to experimental protocols.

Molecular Structure of OmiFluo™ BOSHY-LD Yellow and Green
BOSHY vs Traditional Probes: Comprehensive Analysis
BOSHY Unique Advantages
- Ultra-large Stokes Shift (>100nm): Complete separation of excitation and emission, near-zero background interference.
- High Efficiency Dual-State Emission: Solution Φ_F up to 74%, overcomes ACQ, remains bright in aggregated state.
- Tunable Structure Platform: Emission spectrum 500-620nm continuously tunable, easy for derivatization.
- Chiral Optical Properties: Potential for CPL (Circularly Polarized Luminescence) (g_lum up to 1.7×10⁻⁴).
Technical Points to Note
- Molar Extinction Coefficient: Slightly lower than BODIPY (~4×10⁴), recommend using slightly stronger excitation.
- High Lipophilicity: Concentration and incubation time optimization required to prevent excessive retention.
- Photostability: Better than fluorescein, but long-term photobleaching characteristics need improvement (vs BODIPY).
Why is BODIPY 493/503 Still Irreplaceable?
Core Status of BODIPY 493/503
Although BOSHY has excellent performance, BODIPY 493/503 remains the industry "Gold Standard":
- Technical Maturity: 20+ years of application history, standardized data analysis models.
- Balanced Lipophilicity: Moderate LogP (4-5) ensures fast staining equilibrium and membrane permeability.
- Excellent Photostability: >90% fluorescence retention after 5 min continuous irradiation, preferred for long-term live cell imaging.
